Tips For Ordering Delivery Breakfast Food
Most people order food to be delivered for dinner. Maybe they order lunchtime delivery to the office from time to time, but breakfast delivery is a lot less common. However, it can be a really convenient option if you're busy, getting ready to travel, or just want some yummy breakfast food without having to cook. Since ordering breakfast food is a bit unfamiliar to you, though, you can probably benefit from a few tips.
1. Stay away from items that are meant to be crispy.
Like all delivery food, breakfast food has to be wrapped up before it is brought to your door. Even if your delivery driver is lightning fast, the food will sit for long enough in a container that it ends up getting a little steamy. If the food was initially crispy, it won't be crispy once it reaches you. As such, dishes that are really meant to be very crisp, like breakfast cannolis, won't stay crisp very long. Meats do tend to be the exception since the crispiness tends to go past the surface. For example, bacon may get a little less crispy in transport, but it should still be crispy enough to enjoy once it reaches you.
2. Choose something with protein.
When you're looking down at a breakfast delivery menu, it is so easy to get drawn in by all of the sweet, delicious, carbohydrate-laden treats. Cinnamon rolls, pancakes, waffles — they are all delicious. You should absolutely order these things if they appeal to you, but make sure you order something with protein, too. Otherwise, your breakfast will leave you feeling hungry again within an hour or two. Scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and breakfast ham all stand up well to delivery.
3. Only order eggs if they're scrambled.
Some restaurants won't even deliver over-easy or sunny-side-up eggs because they don't transport well. Other restaurants do include these on the menu, but they're still not a great choice. The yolk tends to get gummy and hard if it sits for more than a few minutes. Scrambled eggs hold up to delivery a lot better, so they should be your top choice if you're ordering a breakfast sandwich or some other dish with an egg.
With the tips above, you can enjoy a great delivery breakfast. Bagels and cream cheese, omelets, pancakes, cinnamon buns, and other breakfast favorites all taste so good when they come right to your door.
